Tia Carrere is celebrating the new year and her birthday in her bathing suit. The Wayne’s World alum shows off her fabulously fit figure in a black swimsuit via one of her latest social media posts. “happynewyear #happybirthday to me :-) Thank you thank you thank you @spychick_6 and #secretislandlair for an epic start to 2023 and the first day of the rest of my life!” she captioned the Instagram snap taken while vacationing in Eleuthera. “You look amazing! Happy New Year and Happy Birthday, Sis!” commented Kelly Hu. Many others, including Nicky Whelan, simply added lots of fire emojis. How does the 56-year-old stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Tia Carrere stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Doesn’t Pay as Much Attention to Food and Exercise as She Did In Her 20s

Tia has explained that her approach to diet and fitness has evolved over the year. “Being 23 and doing Wayne’s World in those short tight dresses and bikinis, I had to pay more attention to food and exercise. I was never unhealthy about it or obsessed, but just aware of what I wanted to look like on film. A 23-year-old metabolism certainly helped though!” she confessed to InBetween. When her role as Lady Danger in AJ and the Queen came along, she “was over the moon” that she “could be who I am right now at this time in my life,” she added. “I’m more voluptuous in my look and the way I express myself. It was liberating being fully myself without feeling self-conscious at all. Meanwhile, my male co-star was on a strict diet and exercise plan for those abs he was showing all the time! Hilarious!”

2. She Believes Inner Beauty Trumps All

What is Tia’s message to her teenage daughter? “I am always trying to reinforce the thought that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and that confidence is the most attractive part. Unfortunately, we live in a time of social media and hyper-focus on the image we project in the world. No matter what I say or how many times I say it, she will have to navigate this time in her own way. Adolescence is such a fraught time and now with media, it’s almost too much pressure for these kids,” she told InBetween.

3. She Doesn’t Want to Be a “Plastic Surgery Victim”

Walt Disney's World Premiere of "The Shaggy Dog" - ArrivalsJohn Shearer/WireImage

Tia is embracing the aging process. "When I was first starting, I was just thankful. Being an attractive, young female certainly afforded you some luxuries. People will see you, they are drawn to you. But then as time goes on, as you transition from your 20s to 30s and then 40s and 50s, there are treacherous waters that you need to navigate,” she said in an interview. "If you only value yourself for your physical beauty and youth, you’re going to be lost. Because as time marches on, you can never be the girl that you were now that you’re a woman years later. You have to create a life, and you have to find joy and fulfillment outside of that identity. That’s why you do see these plastic surgery victims – they’re eternally chasing 28. You have to leave that. You have to mature and grow and find fulfillment elsewhere."

4. She “Knows What Works for Her”

20th Century Studio's "Avatar 2: The Way Of Water" U.S. Premiere - ArrivalsFrazer Harrison/WireImage

In August, Carrere explained to Yahoo Life’s "Unapologetically" that posting bikini photos on social media wasn’t her thing. "I would love to get into amazing shape to show a bikini picture, but I prefer one-pieces anyway," she said. "I know what works for me and I know what works for my body and what makes me feel comfortable. I could become a triathlete and go, ‘You know what? I can’t believe I have a 12-pack for the first time in my life,’ and maybe I would want to celebrate that with a bikini picture. But, as of yet, I haven’t gotten to that point."

5. She Is “Comfortable” in Her Skin

Tia told Yahoo that she is "comfortable” in her skin. "I’ve done incredibly well with maintaining a balanced mind, body and spirit for having been in this business for almost 40 years now. And unfortunately, we’ve all seen the carnage along the way. It’s very, very difficult when you’re the product not to take it personally when your stock goes up or down, when people take nasty potshots at you, as they can with easy access now with social media. You really, really have to work on your internal core strength so that the marketplace doesn’t dictate whether you’re happy with yourself,” she said.

Sophie Kasaei is best known for her time as a cast member of the hit reality series, Geordie Shore. She’s also created a line of hair extensions and products, Mane London. Kasaei is also ready for the new year, and is making plans. In a recent Instagram post, Kasaei revealed that she is going to be going on some trips this year. In the photo, she posed in a patterned bikini, her figure on display. She captioned the post, “First holiday for 2023 booked.” How does she stay so fit? 1. She’s Embracing Herself

Profile,Of,A,Girl,In,A,Pine,Forest,With,NakedShytterstock

Kasaei talked about the journey to creating her company to Heatworld. She says that she was inspired to launch this brand to help people embrace their natural hair. Kasaei says that she used to not like herself, and that she has started to change her approach. "One of the main reasons I ended up doing this was because of the damage I caused to my own hair. It's so unfortunate because I spent all these years trying to fix something that wasn't broken. I was trying to change my hair all the time, and trying to go with certain fashions and styles when really, I should have just embraced what I had.”

2. She’s All About Self-Care

SHEIN Christmas Pop-UpDave Benett/Getty Images

Kasaei tells Heatworld that she always makes time for herself. "I love a self-care day, I could do them every day. My main things would be starting the day with a dog walk and then put something in the slow cooker... I'm so old! You need homely, good food on a self-care day, I've literally just put some mince and dumplings in mine. Oh and you've got to get the heating on.”

3. She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Karaoke Box Smithfield Launches New VR TechnologyDave Benett/Getty Images

Kasaei revealed some of her favorite skin products to Heatworld. "I'm also all about skincare, skincare is massive now,” she says. “Back in the day, it was all about sunbeds and damaging your skin, we just didn't care. We didn't care about late nights or drinking water but now everyone is obsessed with health. Everyone is going more natural now, so I think good skin care is absolutely key. I'm loving ZO Skin at the moment, I love a face mask as well, I love Clinique or The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask (£12).”

4. She Eats Healthy

Kasaei makes sure to eat healthy. She revealed her favorite meals to Closer Online. “Breakfast is two chicken sausages with scrambled or poached eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and a slice of gluten-free bread. I’m a sucker for a Starbucks sugar-free caramel latte with coconut milk. For lunch, I’ll always have some sort of seafood – maybe prawns. If I’m out, I’ll get a protein box of chicken, broccoli and eggs, or a soup. I’ll usually end up eating dinner late, around 9pm, which isn’t great as it’ll just sit on my stomach. I’ll have fish, roast vegetables and microwaveable rice.”

5. She Swims

One thing Kasaei likes to do to stay in shape is go swimming. She shares a lot of photos on her Instagram of herself spending time by the water. Kasaei shared this photo of herself going for a late-night dip in the pool. She captioned it, “Ur modern geordie Aphrodite.”

Anna Kendrick is feeling grateful, despite the state of the world right now. She shared a photo of herself in a bathing suit with other pals, someplace tropical. “Well. 2021. 1. She Stays Present in Her Body

“The times in my life when I tried to restrict the foods I love always backfired, and I ended up feeling miserable. For me, it’s all about really being present in my body, not depriving it,” she told Shape.

2. She’s Tried to Add More Silliness in Her Life

"I'm trying to have a sense of play. A lot of my life over the last decade has been work, recover, work, recover. That doesn't leave much room for anything else. That's the mindset and the reality for a lot of people. You work and then recover so you can work some more. Putting some fun and silliness into my life is one of my goals,” she told Shape.

3. She Hikes

“The faster, farther and more frequently you walk, the greater the benefits. For example, you may start out as an average walker, and then work your way up to walking faster and walking a mile in a shorter amount of time than an average walker, similar to power walkers. This can be a great way to get aerobic activity, improve your heart health and increase your endurance while burning calories,” says the Mayo Clinic. “You can also alternate periods of brisk walking with leisurely walking. This type of interval training has many benefits, such as improving cardiovascular fitness and burning more calories than regular walking. And interval training can be done in less time than regular walking.”

4. She’s Tried Certain Wellness Techniques

Tribeca Fall Preview: "Love Life"Rob Kim/Getty Images

"I've tried a couple of meditation classes, and so far I feel like I'm doing it wrong," she says. "My mind races more when I meditate. And I was vegan for a year, or maybe even two, and it was the best I've ever felt. Then I just fell off the wagon super hard. I was like, Well, maybe I can just do vegan most days. But no. It was the classic slippery-slope situation for Anna,” she told Shape.

5. She’s Part of a Changing Industry, and Worked Hard to Get Her Seat at the Table

Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2021 - ArrivalsAmy Sussman/KCA2021/Getty Images for Nickelodeon

Kendrick has worked hard to get a seat at the table. “There was a film I did many years ago and it was a mostly male cast... which doesn’t narrow it down very much at all,” she adds, with a wry laugh. “There were times when I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’m a joke to you.’ I think if those guys could see videos of themselves now, they would be totally horrified. They wouldn’t even recognise themselves, because the world is changing and people are becoming more self-aware,” she told the Independent.

I felt proud to be the tallest girl on the court. My arms were long and helped me dominate on defense. My legs were strong and allowed me to jump higher and run faster. My size and strength were major assets as I defended the ball from opponents. Through playing this sport, I realized how powerful and strong I was, how my body allowed me to be great at something.”

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
