Vicki made a decision in her 2016 s to get back in shape after splitting from boyfriend Brooks Ayers. "You know what, I was at such a depressed state," Gunvalson told ET. "I'm 54 now, and your metabolism changes. I put on, like, 10 lbs. from my 40s to my 50s, and I never felt strong."

She Tried Calorie Counting

Vicki told ET that she lost 22 lbs. in three months by consuming just 500 calories a day. She focused her diet mostly around raw foods and skipped lunch in lieu of liquids. "I cut out all alcohol. 500 calories a day," she revealed. "And no carbs, so I just did lettuce and grapefruit in the morning. Some celery, carrots. Whatever it could be, just very raw. And then nothing really for lunch. I would just do water, lemon water. Hot lemon water. And then at night, I would just have salad and protein, and it worked!" One problem: "If you lose weight by crash dieting or by drastically restricting yourself to 400 to 800 calories a day, you're more likely to regain weight quickly, often within six months after you stop dieting," says the Mayo Clinic. "Exercise can help you maintain your weight loss. Studies show that people who lose weight and keep it off over the long term get regular physical activity."

She Dabbles in Keto

After Vicki's daughter Briana lost a ton of weight on keto, the Real Housewives star gave it a try. "Thanks Briana and @ketoculbersons for helping me decide what to make for dinner. Can't wait to try it. I love you. #keto #healthyeating #mydaughter #myinspiration," she captioned this image of a keto dinner. "The ketogenic — or keto — diet emphasizes high-fat foods and severely restricts carbohydrates. In fact, about 60% to 80% of calories should come from fat, according to Jason Ewoldt, RDN, LD, a wellness dietitian at Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program (HLP). He notes that a true keto diet also includes only moderate amounts of protein, and less than 50 grams of carbohydrates a day," says the Mayo Clinic.
