1. Disciplined About Diet
Marquez is sensible in her approach to diet and wellness. “I eat well and work out and I sometimes eat whatever and indulge in whatever,” she says. “I’m not the type who will starve herself to death to maintain her body. I have discipline and if you have that, you know how you can control yourself from not eating fast food or unhealthy food, and not be a couch potato.”
2. Personal Trainer
Marquez works out with a personal trainer at the gym, which is a great way to stay accountable and make progress. “Personal trainers are experts at understanding where their clients are at and what's appropriate for them,” says the Southern California Health Institute. “For example, if you're new to exercise, your personal trainer won't give you the same regimen that someone with years of experience would do.”
3. She’s a Foodie
Marquez genuinely loves food, especially traditional Filipino dishes. “I love bacon and eggs!” she says. “Well, who doesn't? I eat anything but I always have an appetite for anything home cooked. Give me sinigang [sour soup with pork], stew, tinola [chicken soup dish] or bopis [spicy pork or beef lungs] any time of the day and I'll eat it in a minute.”
4. Her Beauty Secrets
Marquez’s beauty and health mantra is all about moving. “I regularly go to a dermatologist and get a facial every month,” she says. “I think it helps that they extract the dirt on my face that my cleanser can’t reach. Another is, I have an active lifestyle; sweating helps and the results are very satisfying. Move and don’t be lazy. Dance, go to the gym, and maybe have a sauna session. Being active helps skin, body and mind a lot.”
5. She Has PCOS
Marquez has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). "I have regular check-ups,” she says. "I had a hard time adjusting to my body changing since I gained a few pounds, [I felt] bloated which is uncomfortable sometimes, mood swings, it really depends. You just have to find the right balance...It's hard to adjust but with the help of people, eventually, you can fight it."
