1. She’s Consistent

One of McDermott’s workout secrets is staying consistent. In this revealing Instagram post from December 2020, she revealed that she had been going to the gym more often. “It’s been a long 18 months of finding out what works for my body, dragging myself out of bed on some of the days I didn’t want to, walking to the gym in the freezing cold (like today), but honestly I have never been happier in myself!”
2. She Does Full-Body Workouts

McDermott works with personal trainer, Chris Barker, to help herself stay in shape. Barker revealed some of the reality star’s exercise and diet secrets in an interview with Glamour. He says that he likes to do a lot of full body exercises and sessions with McDermott. “I like to program full body days, so we are working out as much of the body as possible.”
3. She Doesn’t Diet

Barker tells Glamour that he doesn’t believe in putting his clients on diets. "I do not put any of my clients on any crash diets or overly intense programs; I like to try and get them to learn how to make their lifestyle healthier to fit their goals, this way they are more likely to not only reach their goals but maintain those goals once they have reached them."
4. She Works Out Individual Body Parts

While McDermott and Barker do a lot of full-body sessions together, they also will spend time focusing on one thing. Barker tells Glamour that McDermott had a few specific areas she wanted to target. “I will make sure that we are able to focus at the same time on certain areas like her bum, for example, which she has wanted to focus on."
5. She Focuses On Calorie Deficits

Barker tells Glamour that he and McDermott focus on her caloric intake in order to keep her abs in shape. "Everyone has abs they are just hidden beneath a layer of fat, the only way we can reduce this layer of fat is by being in a calorie deficit, whether that be from eating less or exercising more; we need to be in a deficit to reduce our body fat levels enough to see those abs."
