Tricia Helfer is a model and actress with a huge following. She is best known for her roles in Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer, and Two and A Half Men. Earlier this month, Helfer shared a selfie on Instagram of herself at the beach. She captioned the post, “Day off.” Helfer also shared a hiking photo on her page last December. She captioned that post, “My happy place. Didn’t get to hike this trip - was in caretaker mode for a friend. But looking forward to coming back and getting out on the trails.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Tricia Helfer stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Does Cardio Workouts

Tricia.Helfer.4Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer shared some of her wellness secrets with SELF. She says that she does a lot of cardio workouts. “If I could only do one workout, I'd run or hike (I'm a heavy-duty hiker) with some calisthenics as well -- you have to tone up, too. But there always has to be some cardio involved. You gotta get your heart rate going.”

2. She Mixes Up Her Workouts

Tricia.Helfer.3Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer likes to mix up her workouts. She shared her favorites in her interview with SELF. “[To keep things fresh] I mix up my workouts: One day [I'll do] yoga, one day's running and weights, one day I'm doing Pilates, one day's hiking.” The Lyons Share states that variety in your fitness routine is important. “Doing the same workout day after day is a recipe for complete boredom followed by burnout. If you’re an avid HIIT class taker at a specific studio, try adding a yoga class in once a week. If you’re used to hitting the gym and doing your own thing everyday, try a spin class. If you’re walking the trail everyday, add in a Pilates class. Either way, if you incorporate new activities, you’re bound to have more fun, actually enjoy your workouts and –gasp- even look forward to your next sweat session.”

3. She Makes Salads

Diet,Menu.,Healthy,Salad,Of,Fresh,Vegetables,-,Tomatoes,,Avocado,Shutterstock

Helfer tells SELF that she loves to make salads, and shared one of her favorite recipes. “If I only have 15 minutes for dinner, I chop up a mixed salad with some cut-up fake turkey. I don't eat poultry or meat but I really like some of those vegetarian ‘Smart’ meats -- I really like the fake turkey slices. My cat is insane about 'em, too! And for a dressing -- red wine vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard, and a little salt and pepper. It's as easy as that.”

4. She Eats Healthy Snacks

Tricia.Helfer.2Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer shared some of her favorite healthy snacks in her SELF interview. “When hunger strikes at 3 PM, I go for sliced apple with almond butter.. Either that or I will sometimes crave tuna salad. I cut it up with a little bit of mayonnaise, dill pickles, and pepperoncinis and eat it with hummus and gluten-free crackers. I love a good roasted garlic hummus.”

5. She Mixes Up Her Skincare

Tricia.Helfer.5_69e5c9Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer doesn’t just like to mix up her workouts. She also mixes up her skincare routine. Helfer shared her routines with Real Style Network. “As for products, I have a mixture and like to vary it up depending on the weather and the climate I’m in. In the summer or humid climates, I tend to use Nars Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Lotion, AquaGel Luminous Mask and Eye Cream Concentrate and Kiehl’s Microdermabrasion serum. In the winter or dryer climates, I use La Mer Concentrate Serum, La Mer Eye Cream and Crème de la Mermoisturizing lotion. I also love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Oil and eye cream. That was the only thing that kept my skin from windburn and chapping while on a cross-country motorbike trip. The best sunscreen I’ve ever used is Kiehl’s SuperFluid.”

1. She Doesn’t Restrict Herself

Ross revealed some of her diet and eating secrets in an interview with People. She says that she doesn’t believe in restricting herself, and eats what she wants. “I don’t restrict my eating to firm meal times. I eat in the same philosophy that I live with: joyfully!” "Develop the habit of seeing the positive side of things. You needn't become overly optimistic — after all, bad things do happen. It would be silly to pretend otherwise. But you don't have to let the negatives color your whole outlook on life. Remember that what is right about you almost always is more than what is wrong," says the Mayo Clinic.

2. She Eats Simple Food

3. She Loves Tracy Anderson Classes

10th Annual LACMA ART+FILM GALA Presented By GucciAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

Ross is a big fan of the popular Tracy Anderson Method as a way to stay in shape. She tells POPSugar, "I love being in the heat; we work out in a really hot room there, and it really works for me. I love sweating; it's one of the ways that I process everything that goes on during the week and move it through my body. It's always really loud music and great music, which I love, and the workout changes every 10 sessions, so even if you take classes, it changes every 10 days, it changes . . . I love that! I never get bored."

4. She Enjoys Working Out

94th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsKevin Mazur/WireImage

Ross tells POPSugar that one of her secrets to exercising is the fact that she enjoys doing it. "I'm a big advocate for keeping my body moving," she said. "It is definitely vain, and it is about aesthetics, but truthfully I feel better about myself when I work out. I sleep better, my back feels better, my knees feel better . . . when I'm moving and keeping my body long and strong, I feel like I'm more productive and I get more done in a day."

5. She Does Blood Flow Restriction Workouts

Ross revealed in this Instagram video that she likes to do blood flow restriction when she works out. In the video, she is seen doing strength training exercises with cuffs on her ankles. I use these for the first 10 minutes of my workout.”

Lucifer star Tricia Helfer took advantage of the Los Angeles climate to catch a little sun and get some well-earned rest. Helfer, who plays Charlotte on the show, shared a picture of herself relaxing on a sun lounger, posing in a pink ruffled bikini. “Little LA relaxation was in order,” the 49-year-old captioned the post. Here’s what the actress does to stay happy, healthy, and beautiful.

1. Her Workout Routine

Tricia Helfer.1Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer’s workouts consist of running on the treadmill, Pilates, and boxing. “I'm dying to try more kickboxing,” she says. “I did study kickboxing briefly for a Battlestar Galactica fight scene, actually. And it's an insane workout. It's really good for toning your ass, thighs and hamstrings.”

2. Less Is More Beauty

Tricia.Helfer.2Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer employs a less-is-more approach to beauty. “I’ve been pretty lucky with my skin,” she says. “I never had a bad teenage phase and actually deal with breaking out more often now than when I was young. I almost never have facials or treatments of any kind. I know I should and I wish I did get around to it more, but I just never seem to find the time. I do use a mask once in a while at home and I have a Crystalift microdermabrasion machine at home. It’s not very strong, but I can tell a difference when I use it.”

3. Skincare Routine

Valencia,,Spain,-,January,24,,2022:,Kiehl's,Is,An,AmericanShutterstock

Helfer switches up her skincare products depending on climate and season. “In the summer or humid climates, I tend to use Nars Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Lotion, AquaGel Luminous Mask and Eye Cream Concentrate and Kiehl’s Microdermabrasion serum,” she says. “In the winter or dryer climates, I use La Mer Concentrate Serum, La Mer Eye Cream and Crème de la Mermoisturizing lotion. I also love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Oil and eye cream. That was the only thing that kept my skin from windburn and chapping while on a cross-country motorbike trip. The best sunscreen I’ve ever used is Kiehl’s SuperFluid.”

4. Mature Beyond Her Years

Tricia.Helfer.4Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer learned to deal with responsibility early on. “I grew up with what I would call a level head,” she says. "I had to have my own bank account since I was 8. I had to pay to go to school. We had a farm. I was a farmhand, and I made a wage and had to buy my own school supplies. We had a budget that we went over every week. So I always went at it as a business. You have to at least attempt to be smart about things.”

5. Low-Key Fashion

Tricia.Helfer.5Tricia Helfer/Instagram

Helfer prefers a low-key approach to fashion. “My look changes constantly with work, but my personal style has always been pretty low maintenance,” she says. “I am generally casual but do enjoy spicing it up every so often. Of course, style changes with the fashion, but overall, I’ve always been pretty low key. It’s just too much work to always be styled and coiffed. I don’t know how some people do it. I have too much stuff I’d rather be doing than getting all done up just to go run errands.”

1. She Does Intervals on the Treadmill

Tracy is seriously committed to fitness. "I work out in the morning. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, I'm at the gym at 5:30 a.m., and weekends, I'm at the gym at 8,” she told The Globe and Mail. "Tuesdays and Thursdays I run intervals on the treadmill. This morning, I walked on incline 1 for five minutes, then did 30 seconds at 9; then 30 seconds jump right off the treadmill and then 30 seconds at 9, 30 seconds off. I do that for 10 sets, then walk for five minutes, and then do another 10 sets, but every time I jump back on the treadmill I go up in terms of speed so 9.1, then 9.2, all the way up to 10. Then, after that, I walk for five minutes, jog for five minutes.”

2. She Does Strength Training Circuits

Tracy also does weight and strength training. "Fridays I do a full-body circuit by myself,” she told the publication. "On Mondays and Wednesday, I train with Stephanie; Monday is shoulders, triceps, biceps and back. Wednesdays is legs.”

3. She Runs

On the weekends, Tracy hits the pavement. "Saturdays and Sundays I run," she revealed. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

4. She Fuels Up with Food

Delicious,,Protein-packed,Breakfast,Of,Steel,Cut,Oats,,Egg,Whites,,AndShutterstock

Tracy uses food to keep herself fueled up. Her diet consists of lean protein, unprocessed carbohydrates, and good fats. "On days I work out with my trainer, I have to eat before I meet with her – it's too gruelling otherwise. I have breakfast after my workout on days I train alone,” she revealed. “Breakfast is steel-cut oatmeal and egg whites. A post-workout meal can be a piece of Ezekiel bread with nut butter or an apple and almonds. After the show, I usually have ground turkey and spinach with brown rice or white fish with bok choy – some protein with veggie and a complex carb. At 3 p.m., a meal might be two eggs and six egg whites with a green vegetable in an omelette. Dinner is protein and a vegetable."

5. She Has a Guilty Pleasure

Tracy has a guilty pleasure. "I love junk food. I love pedestrian-style chocolate bars at checkout lines in grocery stores and processed stuff! I love the taste,” she confessed to the publication.

Arabella Chi, star of Love Island, knows a lot about fitness; she even hosts classes online. 1. She Hits the Gym

Arabella said she was “excited” to hit the gym after the lockdowns. “Whether you create your own fitness training program or enlist the help of a personal trainer, your overall exercise plan should include several elements. Aim to incorporate aerobic fitness, strength training, core exercises, balance training, and flexibility and stretching into your exercise plan. It isn't necessary to fit each of these elements into every fitness session, but factoring them into your regular routine can help you promote fitness for life,” says the Mayo Clinic.

2. She Does HIIT

You can work out with Chi virtually on Boux, and she does HIIT. “The concept behind HIIT is to do short bursts of very high-intensity activity interspersed with less-intense activity. A session of HIIT takes about 25 to 30 minutes, which includes a warm-up and a cool-down period. Do that three times a week to meet the recommended aerobic exercise goal,” says the Cleveland Clinic.

3. She Values Consistency

As for resolutions: “People set way too big goals - once January hits we panic and set unrealistic goals for ourselves! Consistency should be a goal, because I feel like people set goals and then lose motivation and just give up. People should say ‘I’m gonna have a consistent year, that's gonna be my goal,” she told Boux Avenue.

4. Fitness is Meditation for Her

“Yes, fitness is a key form of meditation for me and I think everyone needs their own, especially in London which is such a fast-paced city. It's so important to find a sense of calmness and a time where you can just switch off and have you-time,” she said.

5. She’s Aging Gracefully

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
