She Works Out Hard and Fast
Dua doesn't like to spend hours in the gym, so she opts for super intense quick workouts. "It's high-intensity interval training, but it's so quick, it's over before it's even started," she explained to Vogue, revealing that each session is just 15-minutes of high-intensity interval training workouts, with lots of jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees. The Mayo Clinic confirms that Dua's technique is effective and that "you'll burn more calories," with them. "The more vigorously you exercise, the more calories you'll burn — even if you increase intensity for just a few minutes at a time."
She Works Out First Thing in the AM
The early bird gets the fitness worm. Dua exercises first thing in the morning at 8:30am, so she is sure to get it in. "This is normally the time I give myself to work out," she wrote for Refinery29. "Whether it's on Zoom, doing a workout with my friend Ella in L.A. who leads a kickass workout class called Sculpt With Ella, or with my best friend Bunny who comes over to train me on days when I'm feeling super lazy and need someone to get me motivated, getting physical really starts my day off right."
She Does a Lot of Ab Work
It should come as zero surprise that Dua's workout focuses a lot on her abs. She revealed to Urban List that ab work is crucial. "I think different variations of crunches like bicycle crunches are good. Leg raises are also great unless my back hurts. Planks are good although almost certainly my least favourite!" she said.
She Keeps Variety in Her Workout
In addition to HIIT, Dua regularly mixes up her workouts. She told Refinery29 that some of her favorites include yoga, Pilates, or strength training. "Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting," she added to Urban List. "I like that it's definitely a full body workout. Since starting boxing, I've probably been in the best shape ever. It's also a great stress reliever."
She Works Out with Others
Solo workouts aren't Dua's thing, she confessed to Urban List. "I would always be that person who made a new year's resolution, get a gym membership and then show up twice in the first week of January and then never go again," she said. "Now I love workout classes or working with a trainer. I feel like I'm pretty useless on my own, so I prefer being around other people working out with me."
