Cardio and Circuit Training

Umali makes time for movement every day, even when she's working. "When there is no work, as much as possible, even if it's just on a busy schedule," she says. "One [hour] is actually enough. I do Circuit Training. I also do weightlifting, I also do a lot of cardio."

Lemon Water

Umali likes to drink lemon juice and water. "Studies have shown lemons may have anti-cancer benefits," says the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. "The chemical makeup of lemons can help prevent the development of oral tumors, according to one study. Others have linked citrus fruits and their juices to antitumor effects."

Mindful of Sugar and Carbs

Umali avoids sugar and is mindful of carbs. "For diet, I am not taking in any sugar," she says. "I take in carbs when I want to. But as much as possible, no carbs and no sugar diet and more workouts."

Small Meals

Umali prefers smaller meals throughout the day. "I eat when I'm hungry," she says. "It really depends on the body type. I've tried different diets but I discovered that I lose weight when I eat small frequent meals."

Sensible Lifestyle

Umali doesn't believe in overly restrictive and punishing diets. "A tip or a lesson I'd like to share is that being 'healthy' doesn't mean you kill yourself physically or deprive yourself of eating," she says. "Being healthy is a lifestyle—a lifestyle where everything is well balanced in all aspects–physical, mental, spiritual."
