Jenna Dewan Reveals the Daily Workout Keeping Her Lean and Toned

The dancer reveals the daily habits that keep her strong and fit.

Actress and dancer Jenna Dewan came into her love of dance at a young age. At just five years old, she fell in love with the sport that has helped keep her strong, and at the top of her game throughout her career. Here are five habits Jenna has built to keep herself lean and toned.

She splurges

She aims to not deprive herself of life’s little treats, finding balance every day. “We do not go any Easter without the Lindt Gold Bunny,” Jenna said “It has been a staple for me, personally.” Chocolate will always be an option, but for the most part, she stays eating clean and healthy, aiming for a mostly vegetarian diet. That said, she enjoys her splurges. “But then I also want nachos at times, and I want French fries, I let myself splurge when I feel it,” she told Women’s Health.

She likes variety

She finds delicious dishes to have for dinner, but also tries to keep it on the fairly lighter side. She does love Mexican food like enchiladas, in addition to things like stirfry where it’s easy to pack in veggies. “Sometimes, I’ll have a big lunch meeting and I eat more, and I eat a lighter dinner,” she said.

She prioritizes self care

She knows that self-care is an important part of the wellness process. “Two kids is definitely more than work than one kid…and a full-time career and partnership and all of that,” she said. “I feel like I’m constantly scheduling in my mind.” Factoring in workouts and self-care rituals is a priority for her, and she believes she is a “better person for it. I’ll be a better person at work, I’ll be a better actress, I’ll be a better mom.”

She finds plenty of ways to stay active for her mental and physical health. “I’m happier when I’m moving,” she said. She also puts in the work with a trainer. “I feel really grounded and I feel really strong.”

She uses exercise bands

Women’s Health reports her love of using exercise bands. They’re easy to bring with her when she travels or is on the go, using them for everything from resistance and strength training to Pilates. She even recalls using them as a kid to warm up for dance. “Growing up, that instilled some sort of discipline in me and it was just a way of being, so that stuff is very natural,” she said.
