Alicia Keys is welcoming summer in her swimsuit. The singer shows off her incredible body for her latest Athleta campaign, modeling a swimsuit from the brand. “Water is one of my favorite places. The silence, the power, the energy, the radiance… just like a woman,” she wrote in the Instagram caption. “Welcome to the summer of soul.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 7 ways Alicia Keys stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Is All About Self-Love

Talking about her new Athleta collection, Alicia told People that her advice to anyone struggling to put on a swimsuit would be to "know that you are so beautiful exactly as you are, in exactly whatever form you come in."

2. She Lives Sustainably

Steven Simione/FilmMagic

Keys told People that she tries to sustainability and has always been "conscious" of the term when it comes to everything from products she consumes to those she uses on her body. "The first person that really introduced that in a very strong way is Stella McCartney," she said. "I felt really inspired by that."

3. She Makes Time for Self-Care

Even though she is super busy juggling her career with motherhood, Keys prioritizes self-care. She told People that she grounds herself with self-care rituals, including meditation and reciting affirmations. "There are ways that you can honor the schedule you have and make space for yourself. Carving out that space to make sure you're in touch with you is definitely important. I'm learning that better and better."

4. She Rides Her Peleton

Keys loves cycling. “I love not having to go anywhere to work out,” Keys told Self about her go-to workout. “If I’m home, I’m able to just jump right in. I love my Peloton.” The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

5. She Claims That “Masculine and Feminine” Live Inside of Her

"I really love the gender fluidity [in fashion right now] — that speaks back to what I was saying, how I do feel there's this masculine and feminine that lives in me, and I really love to explore it. I like to think about it and have fun with both sides of me. I'm noticing that even a lot of men are more comfortable expressing even their more feminine side, and a lot of women are more comfortable expressing their masculine side. I think that's very powerful. We all have both of these natures and energies within us, so to be able to accept them, love them and bring them out of us is a really cool thing,” Keys recently told Fashionista.

6. She Mixes Up Her Workouts

Keys revealed to Self that she does a variety of workouts with occasional classes, including dance cardio, Pilates, and yoga.

7. She Runs

Alicia also loves outdoor workouts like running, hiking, and biking. “I know that being outside in the elements is something our souls need,” she told Self. “I feel invigorated and inspired. If I am carrying any extra baggage, I’ve usually dropped it once I am done.”

1. She Avoids Dairy

Keys says cutting out dairy and bread made a huge difference in her looks. “I’ve cut out dairy... and also, believe it or not, getting rid of the breads,” she told VOGUE. “Let me tell you, I’m the first person… I am a ‘breadaholic’. And then obviously, the fried foods, the oil and all that in the skin is never really good.”

2. She Drinks Plenty of Water

Keys says drinking lots of water helped transform her skin. “I’ve always cared about skincare, but in a way that was very frustrating because I didn’t always have good skin,” she says. “I’ve learned some of the secrets and I’ve also found some of the products that work for me - because everybody is different. You’ve gotta keep trying and find what’s good for you.”

3. She Loves Her Greens

Fresh,Kale,Leaves,In,A,Canvas,Bag.,Eco,Friendly,Shopping.Shutterstock

Keys is a big fan of healthy, leafy greens, which studies show can slow brain aging. “Those who took in more leafy greens in their diet – about one and a half portions a day versus those who had less than a half portion a day – had a slower decline in memory as they aged,” says Cleveland Clinic’s James Leverenz, MD. “I like to say, ‘what’s good for your heart is good for your brain’. We know that vegetables and vegetarian-type diets are good for your heart and are likely good for your brain.”

4. She Follows the 5-Factor Diet

Keys follows celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak’s diet and workout regimen. "With Harley's plan, the focus is not on starving yourself but on healthful living so you don't feel like you're missing out on the foods you love. Once you get started, you get addicted to looking, feeling, and living your best," she says.

5. She Loves Working Out Outside

Keys gets her exercise in the fresh air whenever she can, and enjoys hiking and running. “Exposing your skin to sunshine — actually, ultraviolet B (UVB) rays — enables the body to make vitamin D, which is why it's also known as the ‘sunshine vitamin.’ Research suggests vitamin D may have protective effects against everything from osteoporosis to cancer to depression to heart attacks and stroke,” says Harvard Health.

2. She Does Lots of Ab Work

Alicia’s rock hard abs are the result of hard work. She shared her routine on YouTube in May 2020, which involves tons of ab exercises. Cat-cows, bird-dog, upward dogs, side planks, hip dips, and side crunches are all part of her routine. "The core is involved in everything," her trainer, Jenkins, says in the background.

3. She Cut These Foods Out of Her Diet

Alicia made a few changes to her diet in 2020. “I’ve cut out dairy... and also, believe it or not, getting rid of the breads,” she told Vogue. “Let me tell you, I’m the first person… I am a ‘breadaholic’. And then obviously, the fried foods, the oil and all that in the skin is never really good.”

Alicia also drinks a ton of water, carrying it around in “a big-ass jug” she told Vogue. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, an adequate daily fluid intake is about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men and 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women.

5. She Cycles

In a December 2022 Instagram post, Keys revealed her morning ritual: A virtual spin class. “This is how I start my morning off!! I need this! To stay focused, to be my strongest, to remind myself NOTHING can stop me!! Not even myself!! A lot of times we defeat ourselves before we even try. We think we’re not strong enough, not capable, not possible in someway. Trust me I know,” she captioned the video. “Let me tell you now!! Put that lyin’ voice in your head in its place!! You are glorious!! Anything you want you can have!! but u gotta get up and work for it!! Go get it today! I see you!!!”

Who wants to go somewhere to be COLD!!!!???🥶🥶❄️❄️❄️❄️ But now that I tried it, what I love about it is… it forces you to live on YOUR edge, to overcome your fears of falling, of failing. It teaches me to lean into the direction of the fall. When I do I’m actually more stable and stronger than I ever believed I could be. I wish this for all of us this year! That we’re unafraid to fall. That we live on the edge and find out how powerful we actually are.”

7. She Embraces Her Body

Alicia is all about self-love. “I was always a thicker girl, and I had a lot of curves early. I'm born and raised in New York, and on the streets, it was always a little bit of hesitation about my curviness because that drew a bit of attention. I dressed in really baggy clothes to hide it. Then as I got older and started to even get into the music industry, I was pretty shy, but I began to explore more. I began to feel more brave and bold,” she told Elle.

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio is in St. Barths on a family vacation filled with sun, fun and “Acqua Therapy,” according to her latest Instagram post, which finds her strolling the beach in a polka-dot swimsuit. 1. She Knows It’s “Crunch Time”

Alessandra Ambrosio knows her way around a gym, doing crunches, working with resistance bands and weights and using kettlebells. "Crunch time... 🍏‼️💪," she wrote, captioning one workout. Here’s a superset with a crunch you can do, from trainer Mark Langowski:

1. High Plank with Opposite Arm/Leg Extension and Crunch

Get into a pushup position with your arms extended. Lift your left foot off the ground and, at the same time, lift your right hand and extend your right arm out in front of you. Now bend your left knee and your right elbow and bring them both underneath you, and try to touch them together. Place your left foot and right hand back on the floor, and repeat the move with your right foot and left hand. Continue to alternate for one minute.

2. Flutter Kicks and Criss Crosses

Lie on your back and place your hands under your hips for support. Straighten your legs and lift both feet a few inches off the floor. Now flutter your feet up and down, in opposition to one another for 30 seconds. Without stopping, change direction, criss-crossing your feet sideways over and under one another for another 30 seconds.

2. She Eats Clean

Stella McCartney Celebrates Her New "Get Back" Capsule Collection And Documentary Release Of Peter Jackson's "Get Back"Rich Fury/Getty Images

“It is very important for me to eat ‘clean,’” she has said. “This principle has its roots in my Brazilian childhood. I try to eat everything that is fresh and seasonal, to keep the balance of food groups in the diet. I also instill this approach in children: even if they eat a bunch of sweets, I make sure that their diet remains balanced. I can also easily allow myself something like that - a cupcake, ice cream or fries, for example. It's only better to keep yourself in control and, if possible, try to balance such a set with healthier and more nutritious foods.”

3. She Says “Be the Best You Can Be”

“Every woman has a different metabolism and different genetics, so rather than compete with one another, concentrate on yourself and be the best you can be. Everyone has days when they don’t want to show anything. That’s what the good ol’ jeans and T-shirt are for. So many times, I haven’t felt ready for shoots. I’m like, why didn’t I work out more? It’s life.” she has said.

4. She Says “Live Like You’re On Vacation”

Can’t go to St. Barths? Pretend. “‘Forever on vacation’ is my motto,” she has said. “It’s just the way I take life. Nothing makes me feel that pissed off or out of control. Whatever I do, whether I;m modeling or doing my clothing line, ale by Allesandra, I just want to feel like it’s fun. If you’re doing something you don’t like, you’re wasting time. Life is short. There is so much to see and do and feel. We should enjoy every moment."

5. She Loves Those Kids

Of course Allesandra had a family vacation. "[My kids] always come first, so I try to spend as much time as possible with them," she told Glamour years ago. "Sometimes that means rearranging my schedule or bringing them on set." She added: "I love that I get to travel the world and discover so many different new places and cultures. Making time for everything can be challenging, but I enjoy what I do, so I make it happen."

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
