She Eats Green

Alissa recently shared a photo of one of her meals, and it was green! Her drink of choice? Green juice. She paired the nutritious beverage with a big green taco salad. "took myself to lunch because i'm cute like that," she captioned the post. "Because cold-pressed juices are usually served fresh, they retain more of a fruit's or vegetable's vitamins and minerals. They don't have the added sugars or artificial sweeteners that most bottled juices contain. Additionally, when a glass of juice is squeezed from several fruits or vegetables, it is likely to have a wider array of nutrients per ounce than a single piece of fruit," says Harvard Health.

She Reads

Alissa's life is incredibly busy. However, she makes time to relax and read a book. She captioned this snap "do not disturb." Why is reading a great hobby? One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Stocks Up with Healthy Food

Alissa makes sure to stock up on healthy food. During a recent grocery shopping trip she loaded up on whole grains, produce, yogurt, and healthy bread.

She Hydrates

In many of her Instagram snaps, you can find her sipping out of a coconut, a great electrolyte fueled beverage. Hydration is a key part of overall health. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.

She Exercises

Obviously Alissa spends a lot of time in the gym. She considers it an investment in her health. Do your future self a favor and work hard now," she captioned a video of herself doing bench step up while also lifting weights," she captioned a post of her workout. "Weight training is the best way to keep the muscle mass you have and even increase muscle mass you may have lost with aging," says Shawn Pedicini, a physical therapist at Harvard-affiliated Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, to Harvard Health, which adds: "While you need full-body workouts that address all your major muscles, older men should pay special attention to their leg muscles:  quadriceps and hamstrings (in the thighs), the gluteals (in the buttocks), and the calf muscles."
