She Took Her Time

Ariana didn't lose weight overnight. In fact, she maintains that her weight loss was a gradual process, dropping 50 pounds from 2020 to 2021. "I'm so over everyone acting like I lost 50 pounds overnight," she explained in an Instagram Story shooting down speculation she suffered from an eating disorder. She explained that she weighed 167 pounds her sophomore year of college, dropping down to 145 by her junior year because she  "started really working out, eating healthy etc." She dropped down to 118 after a year-and-a-half of healthy lifestyle choices. "I do not have an eating disorder. I worked my ass off to get to where I am today. I am not sick. This is ridiculous and awful to say to someone," she said.

She Started Running and Exercising

Ariana attributes her fit figure to regular exercise. "I wish I could give y'all some insane secret to get skinny overnight but I cant," she said. "That's not what I did. I ran 3-5 miles a day with a waist trainer on in 90 degree weather. It was hell. I went to the gym, and worked out."

She Does Intermittent Fasting

Ariana swears by time restricted eating. "I did intermittent fasting," she revealed in the same post. "Intermittent fasting means that you don't eat for a period of time each day or week," says the Mayo Clinic. Because most people minimize caloric intake while fasting, they lose weight. "Losing weight and being physically active help lower your risk of obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes, sleep apnea and some types of cancer. For these diseases, intermittent fasting seems to be about as beneficial as any other type of diet that reduces overall calories," they add.

She Majorly Revamped Her Eating Habits

Ariana also altered her eating habits, opting for a cleaner, more wholesome diet. "I ate healthy. I stopped snacking. I didn't drink soda anymore," she said. However, you will find her indulging in some of her favorite foods on occasion, including pasta. She captioned a recent photo of her cheat meal, "trynna find someone who makes me smile the way my pasta does :)"

She Counted Calories

If you want to lose weight, it all boils down to burning more calories than you are consuming. "I went into a caloric deficit. I counted my calories," Ariana maintains. "There's no easy way to lose weight. The foundation for weight loss continues to be based on physical activity and diet. Take in fewer calories than you burn, and you lose weight," agrees the Mayo Clinic. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends cutting calories by 500 to 700 calories a day to lose 1 to 1.5 pounds (0.5 to 0.7 kilograms) a week. "If you can add some physical activity to your day, you'll accomplish your weight-loss goals even faster," they say. Bottom line: "It is a process. It takes time. But believe in yourself. Do it for you," she said.
