Christie describes her plant-based eating method as "lacto-ovo." While she has changed up her diet, she has always avoided two things. "Over the years, I've been a vegan, I've been a macrobiotic, I've been a lacto-ovo," she told The Cut. "The one constant…was that I haven't eaten any red meat or fowl."

She Eats Colorfully

Christie explained her approach to eating in a recent Instagram post. "Those of you who have read my books on health and beauty know I have always encouraged my readers, friends and family to think of food as fuel and I promoted eating a colorful organic vegetarian or vegan rainbow diet for maximum nutrition. And I discouraged dieting or as I call it 'deny-eating' and urged you instead to gift your body with healthy choices that will heal and benefit you," she wrote. She is a big fan of Sakara Life "for creating meal plans that make healthy eating easy and fun! Fun because every meal has introduced me to new superfoods that boost energy and moods. I love that! Even though healful mindful eating has always been a passion of mine, ever since I stoped eating meat when I was 13…I still have a lot to learn about the way our bodies work and how it interacts with some of these incredible superfoods, and I hope to share what I'm learning with all of you."

She Drinks Hot Water with Lemon and Cayenne

"How I start my morning: I leap out of bed, go downstairs, and make myself a big cup of coffee. I also make myself a big cup of hot water and squeeze some lemons into it. Sometimes I'll put in a little cayenne just to rev up the engine," Christie told The Cut about her first drink of the day.
