She Relies on Protein Shakes

In 2007, Courtney was accused of going under the knife to lose weight, but adamantly denied getting plastic surgery to People. Instead she attributed her 52-pound weight loss to drinking 1,200-calorie Isopure shakes during the day and eating fish and vegetables at night. "Protein powders are powdered forms of protein that come from plants (soybeans, peas, rice, potatoes, or hemp), eggs, or milk (casein or whey protein). The powders may include other ingredients such as added sugars, artificial flavoring, thickeners, vitamins, and minerals. The amount of protein per scoop can vary from 10 to 30 grams. Supplements used for building muscle contain relatively more protein, and supplements used for weight loss contain relatively less," says Harvard Health.

Fitness is also a part of Courtney's weight loss plan. She told People that she amped up her approach to exercise. Not only did she run on the treadmill but started taking Pilates and yoga classes. Try this on the treadmill, says ACE Fitness:

  • "Start with a five-minute walk/jog warm-up.
  • Stand on the edges of the treadmill and raise it to a 15% incline; next, set the speed to a fast walk or jog, about an intensity level of 9.
  • Hop on the treadmill and walk/run for 30 seconds, then hop off and rest for 30 seconds.
  • Repeat five rounds and then set the treadmill to flat and walk or jog for five minutes to recover. Repeat program if desired."

She is Addicted to Sugar

In an interview with Grubstreet, Courtney revealed that she consumes a lot of sugar – even in the middle of the night. "My whole 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. sugar thing is a problem. When I lived at the Mercer Hotel, they literally called an admin meeting on how to make the perfect warm sugar cookie for me in the middle of the night. Last night I got into some Jeni's Ice cream in Ugandan Vanilla Bean. I stopped doing dope in the nineties, but I've had to eat sweets at 4 or 5 a.m. ever since," she said, later adding a disclaimer. "I don't recommend trying my eating habits at home, and I compensate by juicing kale."

She Forgets to Eat

Courtney also revealed to Grubstreet that she often loses weight, but not on purpose. "Sometimes I forget to eat," she confessed. She also told them that she feels better about herself when she is heavier. "Right now I'm 125 pounds and five foot, eleven inches, but my 'rock weight' was 160. I think I'm a sexy beast at 160, but Gwyneth is the one who told me that if you want to act, and I do want to get back to acting, 'You are your own advertisement.'"

Courtney told Grubstreet that she loves citrus water. "I love lemon water; it's the key to life," she said. "I once lost a ton of weight from a fish-sticks-and-lemon-water diet. That's how I started my own band; I had to lose all that weight first, apparently."
