In an interview with SheKnows.com, Canalis revealed some of her health and wellness secrets. She says that she focuses on working out and eating healthy, instead of putting herself on restrictive diets. "I'm very athletic," she said. "I love sports. I'm never on a diet regimen. I love food. When I'm not on the show, I eat a lot of protein and carbs." Try plant protein. "Nuts; nut butters; seeds; green peas; edamame; quinoa; lentils; legumes, such as garbanzo, kidney, black, pinto or cannellini beans; seitan; tofu; tempeh; and nutritional yeast are all whole food sources of plant protein. Processed plant-based meat alternatives ― "meat" balls, burgers, crumbles, "chicken" tenders and "fish" filets ― have come a long way in texture and flavor. But, it's not clear if replacing animal protein with processed plant-based meat alternatives provides the same benefit as whole food plant-based protein options," says the Mayo Clinic.

Canalis revealed to SheKnows that a lot of people think that she doesn't eat a whole lot. She says that assumption is incorrect, as she eats a lot, and is just blessed with the ability to burn calories fast. "People, especially from Italy are telling me, 'Why are you losing so much weight? You're not eating.' I'm eating much more than usual. People don't believe it, but I'm burning a lot of calories."

She Loves Pilates

Canalis is a big fan of Pilates. She told FitBump that she picked it up as a way to do more cardio workouts. "I was hiking with my dogs twice a week. And then I started to do Pilates. I had never done Pilates before. I found a very good place here in Los Angeles. I tried Pilates before and thought it was boring. The most important thing is to find a good school, a good teacher who motivates you."

She Has A Supportive Husband

Canalis is married to surgeon, Brian Perri, and she gushed about him to FitBump. "I learned that I have a great husband. Sometimes I can't take myself and he's the best at doing that. [Laughs] He's an extremely positive person. You have these moments when you're down a little bit and he's there. He's super active. Every time he can go surf or run, he'll do it. He loves it. Sometimes I'm jealous that I cannot follow him, but it motivates me. Better a person who takes care of himself than another person who grabs popcorn and hamburgers and French fries and stays every day in front of the TV."
