González loves cooking at home for her family, and sticks to healthy whole foods. "I know how to make normal food, I'm very fond of stews," she says. "I like potatoes with choco [cuttlefish], I like to make rice… and they say they're not bad."

González is a big fan of nose-to-tail eating, especially bone marrow. Bone marrow is a rich source of collagen. "As we consume that collagen, we break it down," says Anthony DiMarino, RD. "Our body can then use those amino acids for a number of reasons. Basically, the body's going to use it where it needs to use it."

Pantry Staples

González's pantry staples are Iberian ham, sherry vinegar, olive oil, lactose-free milk and ripe tomatoes. "Monounsaturated fats are healthier than saturated and trans fats, like coconut oil and butter," says Dr. Michelle Pearlman, a physician nutrition specialist and assistant professor in the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases at the Miller School of Medicine. "Consuming olive oil is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, and decreased cancer, neurodegenerative, and respiratory mortality."

González is proud of the local ingredients available to her in Seville, Andalusia, especially the award-winning wine. The TV presenter hopes other locals feel the same appreciation for their native products. "I feel tremendously proud to be part of a country that is gradually managing to value the wonders that we have in terms of raw materials and in terms of experience and soul to make them authentic treasures," she says.

Coffee With Collagen

González loves drinking coffee, sometimes adding collagen creamer for an extra health boost. "We cannot say drinking coffee will prolong your life, but we see an association," says V. Wendy Setiawan, associate professor of preventive medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. "If you like to drink coffee, drink up! If you're not a coffee drinker, then you need to consider if you should start."
