Head over to @respin NEXT FRIDAY for our first workout. No excuses… you got a week to get ready!" How does the star make 55 look like 25? Read on to see 6 of Halle Berry’s top tips for staying in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Start By Making Up Your Mind

According to Berry, getting into shape starts with a decision. “You just have to have the will and the desire,” she explained to Harper’s Bazaar. “And you have to make up your mind that it's important. That's the hard work that people have to do."

2. Adapt Your Program to Your Age

Berry might look just as amazing as she did in her twenties, but it’s not because her approach to fitness has remained the same. "I've always been fit, and have always thought about fitness and taking care of my body. It's only changed in terms of how I've been adding to my fitness regimen," she told Harper’s Bazaar. "It used to just be working out with weights, and then I got into Pilates, and then I got into yoga, and now I'm into martial arts."

3. Try Keto with Intermittent Fasting

47th Annual People's Choice Awards - ArrivalsAmy Sussman/Getty Images

Berry started the keto diet to help manage her diabetes. "Nothing white. No sugar, no carbs," she explained during an appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan about her dietary restrictions. Instead she loads up on healthy fats like "avocado, coconut oil, butter," and avoids sugar. "That's the secret!" In an August 2018 Instagram story she discussed intermittent fasting, revealing that she eats two meals a day, normally skipping breakfast and doing a "sort of fast.” Her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, also told Hollywood Life that she eats her first meal post-workout, which is "basically her breakfast and lunch combined.”

4. Drink Bone Broth, Green Juice, and Bulletproof Coffee

4th Annual Celebration Of Black Cinema And Television Presented By The Critics Choice AssociationRobin L Marshall/WireImage

Halle avoids sugary beverages and instead sips on water and a few other healthy drinks. Thomas revealed that Berry is a big fan of bone broth, which she sips throughout the day or right before bed. Green drinks, and “bullet coffee”—aka Bulletproof coffee, a concoction of black coffee, MCT oil, and grass-fed, unsalted butter— are also her favorites, she revealed in an Instagram Story.

5. Try Boxing

Boxing and martial arts are two of Halle’s favorite workouts. (She directed the awesome MMA drama Bruised, on Netflix.) “Boxing is still considered one of the best full-body workouts," she wrote in an Instagram post. "You'll sculpt every muscle and burn major calories and fat. It dramatically decreases stress levels, develops hand-eye coordination, and builds confidence and discipline. But most importantly... you'll never stop learning. I've been boxing for the past 10 years and regularly for the past three and I love that I always learn a new way to challenge myself and work new muscles."

6. Prioritize Self-Care

Berry is all about taking care of herself. Her Instagram feed is filled with self-care photos. “I love Self-Care Sundays, and finding time to read or meditate, do yoga, things that you can easily do at home,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “Finding time to destress has been very important for me, because a few times I've had to stay calm and be positive for my children when they're falling apart.”

It’s hard to know where to start with all of these fad diets, but intermittent fasting seems to be a big one with the stars. Berry generally will stick to fasting and blends that with a keto diet, focusing on high fats and protein to help control her type two diabetes. Thomas, Berry's trainer said "a lot of the time she will have a steak with a big green salad and not butter lettuce, it has to be dark greens like spinach and kale," he said. "Or she will have shredded chicken over a dark green leafy salad. Or she might have two or three eggs, not egg whites, she eats the whole egg because the yolk is very important."

4. Greens, Coffee, and Supplements Help Her in Her Journey

Posting often on her Instagram about it, she talks about what she does for meals including breakfast. Berry says, "a green drink or I do my bullet coffee,” referring to her morning routine. In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
