She Has Protein-Heavy Food Before and After Working Out
Wood spilled some of her workout and diet secrets in an interview with Glamour. She says that one of her secrets is having a protein rich option both before and after she works out. Since Wood works out in the morning, this is extremely necessary for her. "For heavy lifters, or for anyone working out in the morning, you need to eat prior to your workout, so your body can focus on growing muscles and not digesting, which kills your energy. I always start with a protein shake: one banana, one cup of raspberries, one tablespoon flaxseed, one tablespoon chia seeds, glutamine (for muscle recovery), and a splash of orange juice. It's important to have protein within a half hour to an hour after you work out so your muscles can grow and strengthen—you've gotta feed the machine! I make enough protein shake so that I can have some extra after my workout along with two eggs and whole-wheat toast."
She Stays Hydrated
Wood tells Glamour that she always makes sure to stay hydrated. "Throughout my day, I try to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. On days when I feel like I'm not getting enough vegetables, I'll grab a pressed green juice, which are almost everywhere these days, especially in L.A."
She Cuts Back On Dairy
Wood tells Glamour that she wants to reduce the amount of dairy in her diet. "My food goal this year is to cut back on my dairy intake. I don't want to completely cut it out (because I love dairy and all things in moderation), but I want to minimize how much I consume."
She Eats Healthy Most Of The Time
For Wood, diet is all about balance. She tells Glamour that she aims to eat healthy a majority of the time, while still enjoying an indulgence once in a while. "I'm not perfect, and I will indulge in pizza and sweets on occasion. The goal is to make the majority of your decisions good for your body. So listen to your body, and treat it like your temple. If you eat like crap all the time, quite frankly you're going to feel like crap."
She Switches Up Her Workouts
Wood spilled some of her diet and exercise secrets in an interview with Campus Circle. She says that she likes to do a lot of different workouts and try new things. "Switch up your routine. You have to find out what works for you."
