One thing she likes to do is holotropic breathing. “It’s very effective for stress,” she says to Women’s Health. “You’re creating this rush of oxygen to your brain, and it calms your nervous system. It can be a little uncomfortable at first, but once you get past that, you really open yourself up.”

Dewan is all about self-love. She tells Women’s Health that she is embracing herself as she gets older. “I feel better in my skin. I feel more grounded in my body. I feel excited for this next decade and what is available to create. Even in this crazy year, I still have that feeling.”

Dewan revealed her favorite exercises to Well + Good. “My workout schedule varies depending on my schedule and if I'm preparing for a role, shoot, or something else coming up," she says. "For the most part, I work out three or four times a week. My go-to workout is Pilates, which has really strengthened and toned my body in a way that makes me feel stronger than when I was dancing for ten hours a day. I also like cardio yoga. Sometimes, I work out with my trainer when I need to bulk up to get my muscles a little bigger. I get bored easily with workouts so I like to switch it up."

Dewan makes sure to protect herself from getting sick, especially if it’s the flu. "I really believe in doing everything I can to stay healthy for my family throughout flu season,” she says to Shape. “So flu shots as well as vitamins and supplements are very important. Like every other working mom in the world, taking days off to be sick is really not helpful. I do everything I can to keep my immune system strong and to be there for my family."

2. She Makes Time For Herself

Dewan has a busy schedule, from work and her family life. However, she tells Shape that she always makes time for herself. "Rest is the hardest thing for me to come by, as I'm sure most people can relate,” she says. “But I try to get as much as I can. Dewan shared some of her skincare secrets and tips with New Beauty. “I’ve been doing at-home self-care treatments with masks and different tools I have,” she says. “Like microneedling and gua sha. "I've really noticed a huge difference," Dewan explained about her new diet. "I do this probiotic drink in the morning, and [my] digestion gets better, [my] bloating goes down... "I loved crystals, and I learned more about the properties of each crystal and the Feng Shui of where to put them in the house, and it just became almost a hobby,” she said. "Rose quartz by the side of your bed brings in the energy of the heart chakra and love and calm and peace. Amethyst, if there's a spot where you like to relax and meditate or even get massages, that's a great stone to have nearby. And there are grounding crystals, like hematite, if you have these days where you feel a little spacey. It's kind of like a talisman. They're also just really beautiful to have in the house."

It wasn’t until Kaitlyn moved to Germany when she was 26 and realized that she “needed fitness” in her life that she started working out. “I wasn’t dancing anymore. I had never stepped foot in a gym to lift weights, so that was very intimidating,” she told Elle. “When I moved back to Vancouver that’s when I got my certificate to teach spin, so I started doing that before the show. For me, it wasn’t really about losing weight or anything like that, I was pretty happy in my own skin. I just loved the feeling of getting stronger.”

Even when she is traveling, Kaitlyn prioritizes fitness. “I do try to workout wherever I go. If I am just there for a couple days, I pack one cute outfit and then all of my Reebok clothes so that I am ready to workout when I can. At the airport I make sure I am not taking the tram to each gate and I will walk. I try and be very cautious of making small decisions and small goals for myself to keep me active,” she told Elle.

To get ready for Dancing with the Stars, Kaitlyn majorly revamped her approach to fitness. "I’ve been working so hard on my mental and physical health over the last 14 weeks," she captioned an Instagram photo documenting her progress over 14 weeks. "Reading, meditating, resting, working out, lifting heavy, Pilates, boxing, going to physical therapy for mobility and strength, getting sports massages, dry needling,” she said about her routine.

"Anything I do in life, I always want to work hard, play hard and so I'm still drinking my wine, I'm still eating my McDonald's on Sundays, but I am working hard through the week," Kaitlyn told E News. “I always eat pretty healthy. I worked with this girl named Massy Fit. To be honest, I've been just eating way more than I'm used to. So, definitely more carbs, more protein, which is hard for me because I'm a pescatarian. While promoting her book, Truly Simple with EatingWell, she revealed that her diet is less strict. “I've gotten to a point in my life where not everything has to be so perfect anymore,” Cavallari said. “I used to be so strict about what I was putting in my body. I'm still very healthy and very conscious of it, but I've gotten a little bit more lax. True Roots and True Comfort had nothing ‘white’ in them: no white flour, no white sugar, no white salt. But in Truly Simple, I bend a little bit in a few of the recipes, which really reflects where I am in my life and my new way of eating. Everything is a little bit more relaxed around here now.’

Cavallari tells EatingWell that she loves making foods with cauliflower. “I love cauliflower because I think it's very versatile, and there's actually a Sweet Harissa Cauliflower recipe in Truly Simple that's my absolute favorite cauliflower recipe on the planet. If you've ever been to True Food Kitchen, their cauliflower was the inspiration behind it. There's this sweet harissa dressing that's on it, and there's little chopped-up dates in it, so it has that nice balance between sweet and savory. It's the absolute best.”

Cavallari likes to make salads. She shared one of her favorite recipes with EatingWell. “This salad has a few of my favorite things: salmon (which has omega-3s and is so, so good for you), bacon (no explanation needed), avocado (healthy fats), and spicy tomatillo ranch dressing (just yum). Together, they create culinary heaven. If you aren't familiar with tomatillos, they're similar to tomatoes but are slightly less sweet and are perfect when drenched in ranch.”

She Works With A Trainer

Cavallari tells Us Weekly that a lot of her gym sessions are with her personal trainer. “He kicks my ass,” she says. “He pushes me really hard. He has me actually lifting really heavy weight, the heaviest weight I’ve ever lifted in my entire life. I feel the best I ever have. I feel like I’m the strongest I’ve ever been.”

She Shared Her Eye Makeup Trick

Cavallari shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with Us Weekly. She says that consistency is one of her biggest priorities. “My goal is sort of, right now, just to maintain the muscle that I have,” she says. “I’m really petite. I have no hips. I’m just small. And so if I don’t work out for like a week or two, I feel like all my muscle goes away. So it is about consistency for me.”
