1. She’s a Foodie
De Regil enjoys a healthy diet and lifestyle. “I have a fascination for breakfast, meals, and dinner,” she says. “For everything, I swear! I love to cook. I’m a fan of food, I enjoy eating healthy. It’s one of my passions. I think that if I wasn’t an actress, I would be a chef.”
2. Lifting Weights
De Regil lifts both heavy weights and smaller dumbbells at the gym, which is an excellent way to build muscle and protect bone health. Weight lifting and resistance training is particularly beneficial to help prevent age-related bone degeneration. “By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis,” says the Mayo Clinic.
3. She’s An Early Bird
De Regil makes sure her family enjoys meals together. “We always try to eat together," she says. "And then I go to sleep early because I like to wake up early.” Sleep is crucial for overall health, experts say. “One of the most effective ways to avoid falling sick regularly is to sleep on time,” according to Reva University. “Lack of sleep does not only affect your immune system but it also determines how quickly you can recover when you fall sick.”
4. Boxing Workouts
De Regil loves doing boxing workouts, for example using a punching bag, as part of her workout routine. "This kind of boxing has many health benefits,” says physical therapist Linda Arslanian, director of rehabilitation services at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women's hospital. “Because it constantly requires you to think, change your position, and change your posture.”
5. Resistance Bands
De Regil uses resistance bands for several exercises, such as squats and lunges. “Resistance bands might not look like much, but they can strengthen your muscles as effectively as more traditional weights,” says exercise physiologist Christopher Travers, MS. “In many ways, bands put more tension on your muscles and work them longer during movements.”
