She Created Her Own Plan
In an interview with Ladies Home Journal, Menounos revealed that she went through a period where she gained a lot of weight. She says that she tried a lot of established plans to drop the pounds, but nothing work. Menounos decided to look elsewhere. "Since I couldn't find a plan that worked for me, I decided to create my own," she says. "Within a year I lost 40 pounds."
She Doesn't Aim To Be Thin
Menounos says that her main goal is to feel healthy, not to be skinny. She tells Ladies Home Journal that when she was skinny, she wasn't always healthy, and ended up in and out of the hospital. This is what made her focus on how she felt, not what she weighed. "Just because you're thinner doesn't mean you're healthier. I made it my mission to figure out the very best ways to control my weight and be healthy at the same time."
She Focuses On Long Term Success
For Menounos, being healthy took a while. She tells Ladies Home Journal that her focus was correcting unhealthy habits she had, not going on a diet for a couple of weeks. "My goal was to stop overeating, make healthier choices, and lose weight slowly over the course of one year," she says. "Trying to rush or do crazy crash diets does not give you sustainable results."
She Has A Food Journal
One thing Menounos does to stay healthy is keeping a food journal. She says that this helps her see what she's eating, and how it affects her body and weight. "Before you change your diet, spend a week recording everything that you eat—and when you ate it—in a weight-loss journal," she advises in Ladies Home Journal. "Now that you know what you're eating."
She Does Little Workouts Throughout The Day
Menounos tells TooFab that she lives an active life. One way she is able to do this is by finding small ways to be active each day. "I find creative ways to squeeze in exercises during my daily living routine and I stay as active as I possibly can. I walk instead of drive. I opt for stairs instead of escalators. I also have an inexpensive pedometer that measures my daily steps. I strive to do 10,000 a day and whether I accomplish that or not, it's a reminder to try."
