Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach's Instagram feed shows off her toned physique, and did so in honor of her 33rd birthday. In her most recent photo, she posed in a swimsuit as a real life Barbie. “When I grow up, I wanna be…🎂,” she captioned it. "Love you @piawurtzbach happy bday mamsh," commented publisher Josh Yugen. 1. She Exercises in the Morning

Wurtzbach works out early in the day, she told Pep.ph. "I try to do it in the morning,” she said. “So then it's out of the way and I can continue on with my day.” "There's evidence that exercising the first thing in the morning (before breakfast) helps people burn more stored body fat. But does that actually help people lose more weight? The jury's still out on that question, says Dr. Frates. If you're trying to shed pounds, experiment on yourself. Exercise before breakfast for four weeks, then after breakfast for the next four weeks. See how you feel and whether one timing strategy helps you lose more weight than the other," says Harvard Health.

2. She Takes the Time

Wurtzbach makes time to workout on a regular basis, despite her busy schedule. "If I can do it daily, I would," she said. "If the schedule permits, I do it every day. If not, then I'll do a few times a week, but definitely, I try to do it." "If you're just starting a physical activity routine, any time that you feel motivated and energized enough to exercise is the best time for you," says Dr. Beth Frates, clinical assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School to Harvard Health.

3. She Does Cardio and Weight Training

Wurtzbach's fitness routine includes cardio and weight training. She encourages other women to strength train. "I do a lot of weights," she said. "And a lot of women try to stay from weights or they do more cardio. But that's not true. We're genetically not made to grow that big unless you try to alter something in yourself. Weights, and just a bit of cardio.”

4. She Changed Her Diet

Wurtzbach eats healthy and changed her diet at the beginning of the year. “I promised myself that I would eat more greens, eat more fruit — like anything that comes from the ground is perfect — and also drinking more water," she said. "Sweet potatoes, carrots, red and green peppers, kale, spinach, and broccoli all contain the antioxidant carotene. Try to choose red, orange, deep yellow and dark green leafy vegetables every day," says the Mayo Clinic.

5. She Eats Healthy

Wurtzbach told the Manila Bulletin that diet is more important to her than exercise. “Even if you do the cold plunge, or even if you’re doing the fasting and you’re doing the most challenging fast and working out once or twice a day, that will all go to waste if you don’t eat right,” she said.
