Williams is a fan of intermittent fasting, also known as time-restricted eating. “Can intermittent fasting improve your health? Losing weight and being physically active help lower your risk of obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes, sleep apnea and some types of cancer,” says Manpreet Mundi, MD. “For these diseases, intermittent fasting seems to be about as beneficial as any other type of diet that reduces overall calories.”

Williams enjoys a mostly plant-based diet but allows herself indulgences now and then. "For my diet, I really am not on anything strict to be honest,” she says. “I just do what makes sense. If I’m craving a hamburger, I’ll have a hamburger. But then the next day I’ll make sure that I have a salad, a lot of water, and a good mix of vegetables. Same goes for something like pizza, if I want it I’ll have it, but then the next day I’ll make sure it is filled with healthy habits."

Williams keeps a treadmill in her bedroom to encourage working out first thing. "Individuals can burn around 600 to 800 calories in an hour with a treadmill versus about 400 to 500 calories in an hour on a bike,” says Jessica Mazzucco, a New York City-area certified fitness trainer and founder of The Glute Recruit. “But that's with the big caveat that calorie burn rates vary greatly depending on your age, genetics, weight, gender and other factors."

4. She Loves Boxing

Williams is a huge fan of boxing workouts. “Boxing requires the full body to move,” says trainer Anthony Char. “From staying on your toes to engaging the core muscles or throwing a jab or a cross, there’s a lot to think about, which makes it great for training both the mind and body. It’s also a great calorie burner and can often burn more calories than cardio workouts such as running. It’s a fun alternative to traditional cardio workouts like HIIT or swimming.”

5. Inspired By Motherhood

Williams says having her daughter Pilar Jhena McKinley in 2019 inspired her to take her health seriously. “When I had PJ, it was like a switch flipped,” she says. “I had her late in life, and I know that I want to do everything I can to keep up with her. I equated being healthy to feeling great with her, both mentally and physically. That meant making the right fitness and diet choices all the time. My healthy lifestyle is now fuelled by the intention of having the most energy I can to keep up with her and to make sure I’m blessed to be here with her as long as I can. She is my driving force, and regardless of my schedule which is just as crazy as ever, I’ve made it a priority to stay healthy for her.”

Porsha’s approach to eating is all about moderation. "For my diet, I really am not on anything strict to be honest. I just do what makes sense. If I’m craving a hamburger, I’ll have a hamburger. But then the next day I’ll make sure that I have a salad, a lot of water, and a good mix of vegetables. Same goes for something like pizza, if I want it I’ll have it, but then the next day I’ll make sure it is filled with healthy habits," she told Glamour.

2. She Tries to Eat As Plant-Based As Possible

Porsha maintains that going vegan-ish helped her drop 10 pounds. "My big news in my house is that I am a born-again vegan. Baby vegan, to be exact,” she shared in 2020. "Baby vegan is basically a vegan that is completely plant-based, so I'm about 99.9 percent vegan. Meaning if the Lord say, 'Today you can have that cheese on that salad,' then I am not going to pick it off because that would be against what the Lord wants for me."

Porsha dabbles in time-restricted eating. "I also do intermittent fasting at times, which is where you only eat between a certain set of hours then fast the rest of the day,” she told Glamour. “When I do it, I’ll typically limit my eating window to about six hours."

4. She Makes Her Workouts Count

Porsha puts in a lot of sweat time at the gym. For six years she has trained with Darrell Patterson. Sometimes they box together and others, strength or weight training. However, one exercise she never avoids? “I never skip abs. For some crazy reason I actually enjoy them. I can do a countless number, it’s like I have that natural strength. But since I had a baby, that’s been my main focus area,” she told Glamour.

5. She Does Cardio

"I had no choice but to put my treadmill in my bedroom," Porsha revealed to Glamour about how she prioritizes cardio. "So now I see it when I wake up, and I get right into doing about forty minutes on an incline at a 4.0 pace." She claims to get on the machine “at least four days a week and I get with a trainer once a week."

6. She Has Struggled with Body Insecurity Her Whole Life

In a lengthy essay for Women’s Health, Porsha detailed her lifelong struggle with body confidence issues. Even though she still has bad thoughts, “I fight those thoughts by loving the skin I'm in and practicing body positivity as much as I can,” she said. “Since giving birth to my daughter, I really try to not edit the pictures I post online unless it’s a paid ad post or a photoshoot. I just deal with the comments. I have learned that I am worthy and valuable—no matter what my body looks like—and I want my daughter to inherit that love of self.”

7. She Practices Self-Care

Porsha maintains that self-care helps her cope. “To prevent or deal with the stress of any negative thoughts, I try to practice lots of self-care. In fact, I make sure to pencil it in to my schedule. Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
