She Used Her Co-Worker As A Way To Help Herself
On Yellowjackets, Hanratty plays a younger version of Christina Ricci's character. This is a dream come true for her, as Hanratty used to draw strength and inspiration from one of Ricci's roles. She tells The Daily Beast, "Growing up, I was sick a lot. I had a gut condition that I didn't realize. I was in and out of hospitals and urgent cares, and my mom would always tell me, 'Be strong like Molly.' It's a quote from a movie that I was obsessed with growing up called Gold Diggers, and Christina was one of the main characters in the movie. I grew up with that movie being my whole, 'Be strong, you got this' sort of thing every time I was scared. So, it's really special to now not only work with her but be the same character as her."
She Plays Different Roles
Hanratty has played a lot of different types of characters throughout her career. She says that she wants to have a variety of roles in her life. "I've been so lucky and blessed in my career to play so many different types of people, and my hope is that I never stick to just one type of person, that I get to play everybody at some point," she told Brief Take. "That's the whole point. I get to play pretend for a living."
She's Vegan
Hanratty is open about being a vegan, and she makes sure to keep this lifestyle up when she's playing a character who isn't vegan. Hanratty's Yellowjackets character has to eat various meats during the show, however, Hanratty is actually eating plant-based options when she is doing this. She tells The Daily Beast, "Everything I'm eating is Beyond Meat, just because I'm vegan, so they just reassure me that every time blood sprays in my face, 'Don't worry! It's vegan!'"
She Handles Rejection Well
Being an actress, Hanratty has had to deal with a lot of rejection in her life. However, she says that she handles it well, and doesn't let it break her. She also says that she is extremely grateful when she does get a role. "People just see the ups, but they don't see all the rejection and the struggling to get the next job," Hanratty said to The Daily Beast. "I've never been a series regular on a show, and I gotta tell you, I feel like the luckiest person in the world."
She Has Supportive Parents
Hanratty has been acting since she was young. She says that since the beginning of her career, her parents have been extremely supportive of her. "I don't think I realized as a kid, you know, what was really going on," she tells Bustle. "But my mom has been by my side this entire time. She's just always been there and very protective over me."
