1. She Loves Lifting Weights

McDermott lifts heavy weights and loves the mental and physical benefits she experiences with her workouts. “I’m never gonna be perfect, I’m not a professional,” she says. “But I LOVE weight training so much. This is a huge part of my life and I won’t hide it because I have had mean comments in the past!!! I tell everyone I meet to give it a go and try and stick with it. It’s so worth it… I can’t even explain the feeling it gives me!! When I walk out of that gym after hip thrusting over double my own body weight, I feel so powerful, strong and on top of the world!!

2. She Isn’t Competing With Others

McDermott refuses to compare herself to others when it comes to exercise, preferring to focus on being her best self. “Never compare yourself to someone else and the weight they can lift,” she says. “We are different, we all have different strengths. To prevent injury and be the best version of ourselves in the gym, we need to leave our ego well and truly at the door! Do what feels comfortable to you.”

3. She Doesn’t Put Pressure On Herself

While McDermott would like to have a family one day, right now she refuses to put pressure on herself. “My career is my child at the moment,” she says. “I'm in this nice position at the moment where I have a lot of babies around me, and I can get my baby fix. When I was younger, I was like, 'I'm going to have babies by the time I'm 25, I'm going to be married'. I genuinely thought that for myself, I always thought I can't wait to be a mum, and now that time has come, my priorities have shifted. I don't have the time, capacity or want to be a parent at all at the moment. I know it'll come one day but I'm not rushing it, you know?”

4. She Focuses On Fiber

Two,Green,Smoothie,With,Banana,And,Spinach,,Fresh,Herbs,OnShutterstock

McDermott pays attention to how much fiber she gets from her diet. “Fiber is so important, and so many of us don’t get enough of it. Especially when we eat takeaways and fast food, so much of the time these foods are incredibly low in fiber,” she says. “Now, we all love a takeaway and beige foods😂 but I personally like to make sure I’m getting enough fiber through other means. I need a lot of fiber in my diet so this kind of thing is an every day staple for me. But for others, fiber intake may just be something to consider 🤍 I made this fiber rich smoothie using super green powder (I use one from @nuzest_europe ) , fiber powder, banana, berries and almond milk 🤍.”

5. She Loves Seafood

ZaraMcDermottZara McDermott/Instagram

McDermott loves delicious seafood, especially fish such as sea bass. “Fish is the number one source of omega-3 fatty acids,” says Julia Zumpano, RD, LD. “Just to make it more interesting, fish provide two types of omega-3 fatty acids that our bodies need called EPA and DHA. “Omega-3 improves cardiovascular health at a dosage between 1-4 grams each day. It also lowers the risk of death for people with cardiovascular disease and abnormal heart rhythms.”

Zara McDermott first made waves as a contestant on Love Island. She’s since translated that to a successful influencer career. McDermott has her own YouTube channel and has a strong following on Instagram. She just shared a new set of photos from a vacation this week. In them, McDermott posed in an olive green strapless swimsuit, and a red strapless one. McDermott captioned the post, “Sofari so good.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Zara McDermott stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Switches Up Her Workouts

GettyImages-1181925245Ian West - PA Images/Getty Images

McDermott shared this video on her YouTube channel with her personal trainer, Gary Ward. In it, the two answered questions about McDermott’s fitness routine. One question Ward was asked is what workout regime he currently does with McDermott. Ward says that he likes to vary McDermott’s training. “This is a hard question to answer,” he starts. “Because it will change depending on the stage of her training. It varies, it varies probably every three to four weeks.”

2. She Works Out Regularly

McDermott shared this video on Instagram of herself getting ready for a workout. In the caption, she talked about her current wellness secrets. McDermott says that she makes sure to workout on a regular basis. “Get ready with me to go to the gym. 💪🏼💕❤️ One thing I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve managed to stick to exercising at least three times a week for a long time now.”

3. She Lifts Weights

GettyImages-1436230606Karwai Tang /Getty Images

In the caption of her Instagram post, McDermott revealed that she has started lifting weights. She says that doing this has helped with her mindset towards herself and others. “I literally used to be that girl who looked down on other girls who lifted weights, saying ‘ew no I don’t want to look all bulky’ or ‘nah it doesn’t even look enjoyable why would someone do that to themselves’,” McDermott writes. “The reason I said that was because I was JEALOUS! I had 0 idea where these other girlies got their motivation and I was jealous that I lacked that myself. It’s sad really but tbh I think it’s a natural human response that when we think that something is unattainable and unachievable, we try and look down on it to make ourselves feel better. I think it was the moment I realised my true thought process, was the moment I realised I needed to change because I didn’t want to be a bitter, judgemental woman 😂 in reality the only person I was letting down was myself, because that mindset is damaging and I really believe it can eat away at your self esteem, because at the back of your mind, you think you can’t achieve something, even if you may not be able to fully admit it.”

4. She Eats Fruits & Vegetables

GettyImages-1465071282JMEnternational/Getty Images

In addition to working out, McDermott makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She writes in her Instagram post that she is aiming to eat more fruits and vegetables. “Making sure I aim to eat more fruits at breakfast! I have at least 2 fruits on my breakfast plus a super greens drink alongside it. ✨💕 I’ve been doing some reading on gut health & apparently we should be aiming to have 30 different plants a week!”

5. She Walks

In addition to working out at the gym, McDermott makes sure to stay active in her regular life. She writes in her Instagram post that she is working on walking more. “Try and walk to the gym, not drive (unless running very late 😂). Better for the environment plus helps you get your steps in and some fresh air.”

Sport,And,Healthy,Woman,Tying,Her,Shoes,,Workout,At,Home,Shutterstock

Zara is a fan of HIIT workouts and breaks a sweat at an F45 studio in London. “Let’s Workout 🏋🏼‍♀️ Why do I go to the gym? Because I bloody love it 🫶 I only ever train in a morning as it sets me up for the day & I can clear my headspace ✨ Feeling the best I’ve felt in years!” she captioned a recent post.

2. She Stand Up Paddleboards

Another way Zara enjoys staying fit is via paddleboarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and also a great form of cardio. The water sport can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140 pound male and 436 for a female the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

3. She Hydrates

Zara makes sure to drink enough water. She loves sipping on coconuts. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.

4. She Has a Workout Buddy

Zara has a go-to workout buddy: Her mother. “Matching workout Session with my mum,” she captioned a photo of them together. Having a workout buddy is great for accountability. "You're not in this alone. Invite friends or co-workers to join you when you exercise or go on walks. Work out with your partner or other loved ones. Play soccer with your kids. Organize a group of neighbors to take fitness classes at a local health club or work out together virtually on video," says the Mayo Clinic.

5. She Drinks Coffee

Zara also loves drinking coffee. “Friday Feeling 💕 Another Oat Milk Latte Pleaseeee,” she captioned this post. Science continues to prove that drinking coffee is great for your health. In fact, a new 2022 study published in European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that drinking two to three cups a day of most types of coffee – especially a mild to moderate intake of ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee – may protect you from cardiovascular disease and an early death.

1. She Takes Her Workouts Seriously

Chris Barker, Zara’s trainer, revealed to Glamour UK that his star client is devoted to fitness. The two train together three times a week. "A usual week would be Monday, Wednesday and Friday training with me with two additional cardio sessions if she can. I like to program full body days, so we are working out as much of the body as possible, however I will make sure that we are able to focus at the same time on certain areas like her bum, for example, which she has wanted to focus on."

2. She Does a Lot of Glute Work

Zara does a lot of deadlifting and squats. "Learning how to perform these exercises correctly are a key foundation in any exercise program," Barker told Glamour. He added that learning how to activate the glutes property is crucial. "It is then using the key exercises like deadlifts, squats and hip thrusts and focusing on progressive overload (the principle behind most resistance training programs where you are either trying to lift a greater load or the lift the same load a greater number of times, thus putting the muscles under enough stress to elicit a response - meaning the muscle grows and becomes stronger)," he said.

3. She Uses Health Apps

The BRIT Awards 2022 - Red Carpet ArrivalsGareth Cattermole/Getty Images

Zara uses fitness apps to track her calorie intake and portion sizes. However, her trainer maintains that after a few weeks of tracking, she had a better understanding of nutrition. "Like most of my clients, Zara follows a high protein diet; we then reduce her carbohydrates and fats depending on how she is looking and feeling. Zara is a great cook so she has always been very good with this side of things and this is why she looks as amazing as she does."

4. She Cheats

Zara is allowed to cheat on occasion, per her trainer, who says telling clients they can’t drink alcohol or ever eat their favorite foods, “is setting them up for failure," he said. "By teaching the importance of nutrition and how you can still achieve your results while having the occasional drink or enjoying a pizza then my clients tend to adhere to the program better and actually achieve longer lasting results. Zara still enjoys foods that many people would consider 'bad' but if you are sticking to a caloric plan and not going over your calorie levels consistently, you are still able to achieve great results ....and Zara is testament to that."

5. She Tries to Eat As Plant-Based As Possible

Women In Film And TV Awards 2021 - ArrivalsKarwai Tang/WireImage

In a recent Instagram post, Zara revealed she is trying to eat more produce. “For the longest time I have looked at integrating more plant-based food into my diet and just be a bit more flexible with what I fuel my body with, whilst maintaining protein and nutrition intake,” she wrote. “As I mentioned before, ensuring I get enough protein is a priority to me, and not something I have had to compromise when adding meatless meals into my diet!”

6. She Drinks Green Juice

Zara is one of the many stars who likes sipping on green juice and smoothies. “Juicy sundays,” she captioned this snap of herself. She also likes an iced coffee in the morning.

1. She Drinks Coffee

“While past studies hinted that coffee might have a dark side, newer research suggests that it may actually have health benefits. Why the reversal? It's hard to look at just one aspect of diet and connect it to a health condition because so many other factors that could play a role. For example, early research on coffee didn't always take into account that heavy coffee drinkers also tended to use tobacco and be sedentary,” says the Mayo Clinic. “When newer studies adjusted for such factors, they found a possible association between coffee and decreased mortality. Coffee may offer some protection against:

  • Parkinson's disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Liver disease, including liver cancer
  • Heart attack and stroke”

2. She Tries Not to Lose Too Much Weight, After an Obsession With Exercise

“When you have good people around you, mammy as well, she noticed, she said ‘you’ve got too thin' or whatever and I was like ‘yeah, yeah, yeah I know, I’m trying to sort it out,’” she told the MailOnline. She added: “I’m not working out as much as I was, I ended up losing too much weight.” And: “I’m not doing it as much, once, twice a week max, and to be honest I’m just really good with my diet at the moment. It’s all about balance.” And: “I eased off the exercise and upped my calories and stuff. It’s good to have people around you that are not afraid to say these things to you. It’s so important. I’m feeling so much better.”

3. She is Not Afraid of a Few Grey Hairs

Pride Of Britain Awards 2021 - Red Carpet ArrivalsGareth Cattermole/Getty Images

“I put on Instagram a picture of my grey hairs and honestly the amount of messages I got from younger girls, girls in their early 20s saying ‘oh my God, thank you so much for this, I've never shown anyone my grey hair, I keep it a secret but now I feel like I'm going to embrace it and not be afraid,'” she told MailOnline. “My hair went grey when I was 18. I'm so used to it now, 18 feels like a long time ago. I don't know why it happened, maybe I'm old on the inside! I just said to mammy "why has this happened? Why do I get the bad genes?" She said to me ‘well it's not from me because I didn't have grey hair at 18!’”

4. She Learned How to Take a Break

After a particularly stressful shoot, “It was Michael Barrymore who gave me the advice” to just chill out and not be go, go, go. “I was training for Dancing On Ice and he is a really, really lovely man. He knew by me that I was going through a bit of a time of it….I remember him saying to me, ‘You need to take a break because if these brands and everyone really do want you then they will wait for you.’ So I took his advice and it’s the best thing I ever did. And I would give the same advice to all the new Love Islanders….I didn’t take all the jobs and I didn’t just think of all the cash,” she told the Independent.

5. She Once Showed Off Her “Food Baby”

After a Christmas meal, Higgins showed a bulging tummy and asked fans if she had a “baby” or “food baby.” For her followers, it was an important admission: that eating is OK. Said some followers: “Thank you so much for showing us this” and “keeping it real for us all.” And: “This made me feel a bit better. You’re beautiful,” “I needed this, thank you”’ and “This has really helped me today, thank you xx hope you had a lovely xmas.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Lifts Weights

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”
