These 'Silver Foxes' Are Only Getting Hotter

"Silver fox" status develops naturally like fine wine—and here are five glasses.

You may be wondering how the ever-so-prestigious "silver fox" status is determined and how it all started. The celebs we've featured are around or close to middle age, and, in the interest of providing a condensed term, pure fire. They've been hot, hot, hot since they hit the screen and never stopped entertaining fans. They're handsome, confident, successful, have smiles that kill, and have built a popularity status that make them known around the world.

The silver fox label happens quite naturally with age and develops like fine wine. Grey—or a salt and pepper—hair provides the silver fox a wise, charismatic, and confident look. The rest of the status is based on the reputation they've earned on and off the screen.

We didn't invent the silver fox title; in fact, iconic major league baseball player Jessee Petty was handsome, had a great personality, and started to show some grey hairs. Hence, he earned the nickname "Silver Fox." The catchy title caught on and is still going strong today.

Let's get down to the celebrities we've chosen to induct into the prestigious silver fox club!

George Clooney

George Clooney is perhaps the kings of silver fox status. He's been a favorite actor since 1984 when he saved lives and broke hearts in his role as Dr. Doug Ross on NBC's ER. George has a sexy touch of grey and is looking fine. When this silver fox has his gorgeous wife Amal on his arm, he looks even better!

Brad Pitt

Two-time Academy Award winner Brad Pitt is 61 years old, and "Troy" is still a total heartthrob. Brad's first big recognition was his role in Thelma & Louise—34 years ago! He moved on to leading roles in A River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall, Ocean's Eleven, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and so many more.

Brad was married to America's sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, along with Angelina Jolie and has six children with Angelina.

Tom Cruise

Who hasn't fantasized about being Tom Cruise's assistant in Mission Impossible? We're talking cat suit and fearless skills like jumping out of airplanes, landing in just the right spot at the right time wearing a parachute, or scaling buildings just like Spiderman—the whole nine yards. Tom melted eyes with his leading roles in Risky Business back in 1983, and again in 1986 with Top Gun. He never stopped!

Matt Damon

Fans met Matt Damon when he had a small part in Mystic Pizza back in 1988. But his big break was a leading role in Rainmaker (1997), and then the lead role in Good Will Hunting, which he wrote with Ben Affleck. He moved on to be Jason Bourne, the Ocean's Trilogy, and so much more.

We're not even sure if he has the "silver," but he does for his role in The Odyssey (in theaters July 2026)—and he's a total fox—so he's a "must have" on the list.

Taylor Kinney

Of course Taylor Kinney is hot—he's sizzling Lieutenant Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire! Taylor took a brief leave of absence from the series, but kicked off Season 12 with a very steamy shower scene with his on-screen wife, Stella. The 43-year old actor also channeled Mason Lockwood in The Vampire Diaries.
