The star prioritizes strength training with heavy squats and reformer Pilates.

Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens rose to fame when she starred in the High School Musical series of movies as Gabriella Montez. Still in the spotlight, she’s found ways to balance, focusing on her family life, health, wellness, and career. Here are five habits that she incorporates into her day-to-day life to maintain her strength and health, finding positive ways to stay active.

Vanessa knows the value of spending time outdoors, especially if you incorporate that with an activity. Like in this post on Instagram, while she’s soaking up the sun, she practices her golf swing. “Find a friend that hypes up your golf game,” she said on Instagram.

She fully loves who she is

She’s unapologetically herself. “Over the past couple of years, I’ve really come into my own,” says Vanessa. “When you’re fully accepting of who you are, and you stop trying to suppress pieces of yourself, you can conquer the world. I love how silly I am. I love how excitable I am. And I love that I’m finally at a place where I can access those things,” she said to Shape. “Even the quirky stuff that might have been shut down by other people in the past, like being ridiculous with my friends, those are things I’m now allowing to thrive. For some people, I’m way too much. But I love who I am, and there’s such power in that.”

She’s embracing motherhood

She prioritizes motherhood and taking care of her children. “Well I haven’t gone to any holiday parties or even leave the home this holiday season. Newborn life lol so here’s a photo of me in simpler times where I danced on tables. What a year it’s been. From this to mom of 2…. What a journey ❤️,” she said.

She hydrates

She stays hydrated thanks to Caliwater. The cactus water is loaded with antioxidants. “I’m proud to have companies I believe in and that I want to share with everyone,” she said to Shape. “Working on them is a fun, creative expression for me that doesn’t rely on getting the next [acting] job.”

She stays active

She finds ways to stay active that works for her. “My fitness has taken a turn. Cardio has been put on the back burner, and I’m very OK with that. The things that have become the most important are balance and mental health,” she said to Shape. “I do squats with a rack, and I love to see how much weight I can add to the bar. That’s empowering. And I’ve just gotten back into Pilates with a reformer. It works your muscles like nothing else.”
