1

Intermittent Fasting

Arora practices intermittent fasting (she follows a 6-8 hour eating window), which experts say offers significant health benefits aside from weight loss. "When changes occur with this metabolic switch, it affects the body and brain," says Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Mark Mattson. "Many things happen during intermittent fasting that can protect organs against chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, age-related neurodegenerative disorders, even inflammatory bowel disease and many cancers."

2

Balanced Diet

Arora doesn't eliminate any food groups. "I have a proper full lunch, which includes a bit of carbs and good fats," she says. "I have something for snacks in the evening–a very light, healthy snack. And I have my dinner by 7 pm. So, it can be a little of everything–vegetables, or if you're a meat-eater then meat, eggs, or a bit of legumes or lentils. I divide it and make sure to try and have as wholesome a meal as possible. And that's it. I don't have anything after 7 pm."

3

Nuts For a Snack

Arora breaks her fast with mixed nuts, preferring walnuts. "Walnuts contain important phytochemicals, as well as high amounts of polyunsaturated fats that offer potential benefits for both brain health and function," says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. "Omega-3 fatty acids play a part by helping reduce oxidative stress in the brain but also by helping to improve brain signaling and neurogenesis, which is how new neurons are formed."

4

Yoga

Arora is a longtime practitioner of yoga. "Yoga seems to have this powerful combination of the physical movement combined with the deep breathing, meditation and mindfulness aspect," says Corinna Keenmon, MD, FAPA. "This total package helps us physically by increasing flexibility, along with heart and brain health. Plus, the cognitive and emotional improvements that happen over time are priceless."

5

Mini Weights

Arora uses weights for strength and toning. "Sculpts are mini weights that add a challenge to your practice. Not only that but also tone your arms beautifully. The best part, you add sculpts to almost all your yoga flows. This week add this beautiful prop to your practice and elevate your yoga journey. If you don't have yoga sculpts, you can use 500-ml or 1-liter bottles as per your comfort as a substitute."
