Dewan revealed some of her wellness secrets to New Beauty. She says that even with her busy schedule, she makes time for herself. “I make sure I try to do pilates, meditate, take a shower and take time for myself. Little things that set me up for success. If I miss that and I don’t give that to myself, the rest of my day just spirals out.”

2. She Meditates

Dewan is open about her love of meditation. She tells New Beauty, “Meditation has been a game changer in my life. I do breath work meditations; I do TM-style mantra meditations; I do lots of things that sort of bring me back to a place of connection with myself and spirit.”

3. She Takes Probiotics

Dewan has started taking probiotics, and she is seeing benefits. “I also started taking new probiotic supplements, and I’ve noticed a lot of incredible, positive benefits in my life,” she says to New Beauty. “I’ve been a big proponent of probiotics for a long time, but then I was not sure I was taking the right ones and I had different issues that were all going on. Then Renew Life was recommended to me and I found they had a particular formula for women—for all the issues we deal with as women—so I said, ‘I’m going to try this and see if it helps.’ It not only helps with digestion, but also immunity, and I loved that it also has respiratory health covered, especially during this time.”

4. She Does The 80/20 Rule

When it comes to her diet, Dewan tells New Beauty that she believes in balance. “I believe in eating 80/20. I do 80 percent as healthy as possible—vegetarian, vegan, lots of vegetables and smoothies—and 20 percent I’m eating Mexican food if I want it. I’ve gotta be able to indulge and have a glass of wine and feel good in that way. That helps me not be so strict and focused in one way.”

5. She Takes Care Of Her Skin While Traveling

Dewan revealed her favorite skincare products to Prevention. She revealed that she takes certain products with her when she travels. "When I'm traveling I use argan oil to help balance my skin tone," she says. “I use this mask on the plane and it makes me look crazy, but it's really good for the skin.”

Dewan makes sure to protect herself from getting sick, especially if it’s the flu. "I really believe in doing everything I can to stay healthy for my family throughout flu season,” she says to Shape. “So flu shots as well as vitamins and supplements are very important. Like every other working mom in the world, taking days off to be sick is really not helpful. I do everything I can to keep my immune system strong and to be there for my family."

2. She Makes Time For Herself

Dewan has a busy schedule, from work and her family life. However, she tells Shape that she always makes time for herself. "Rest is the hardest thing for me to come by, as I'm sure most people can relate,” she says. “But I try to get as much as I can. Making time for myself within working, within family, within all of that is very, very important for me and not the easiest to do, but I make it a priority."

3. She Loves Probiotics

Jenna Dewan, the professional dancer and actress, began as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, but has long been in in the forefront, currently on Come Dance With Me and The Rookie. Jenna genuinely enjoys how she feels when she eats vegan and clean. "I consider eating healthy a way of life because I feel better, plain and simple," she said. "I'm not a fan of dieting, which is why I choose to eat healthy most of the time. I keep it in balance, so I don't have to crash diet. When I want to splurge I allow myself and don't beat myself up—I just make a plan to eat extra healthy the next day or work out."

2. She Swears By Spirulina

Jenna finds ways to add greens into her diet as often as possible. She’ll opt for things like coriander and parsley or spirulina. "It is alkalizing, it is like superfood for your blood, your oxygen and your cells," she said. "It's amazing." "Spirulina — the superfood you may or may not have heard of — comes from a blue-green algae plant found in oceans and salty lakes. Lauded for centuries for its high nutritional value and health benefits, it’s not just a passing health fad," says the Cleveland Clinic.

3. Not Surprising, She Loves To Dance

Jenna was a back-up dancer before starring in Step Up and she still loves to dance today. "I like going to a fun, upbeat class with loud music, like dance cardio," she said. "I grew up dancing, so I generally push myself a bit harder when I'm around a crowd.”

4. She’s In Touch With Her Roots

She likes dabbling in healthy recipes connected to her heritage. "I'm part Lebanese—my dad's family—so I grew up with tabouli," she said. "It's my favorite. I like to make things that will keep for a couple of days, and I can just grab and go,” she said.

5. She Loves Green Smoothies

Variety's Power Of Women: Los Angeles Event - ArrivalsFrazer Harrison/Getty Images

She makes concoctions in the blender that help her stay full, fit, and even keep her skin and hair healthy. Her go to mix contains greens like spinach and kale mixed with lemon, banana, maybe a little pear, apple, a drizzle of cod liver oil, black sesame seeds, and water. "There’s a reason your mom tried to get you to eat spinach. In light of what dark leafy greens have to offer for health, you might want to willingly eat them. The best of the bunch include spinach, kale and collard greens, and here’s why: Any dark green means the vegetable is packed full of vitamin A, an antioxidant that serves as a huge booster to the immune system and healthy cell growth," says the Mayo Clinic.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout?
