She Prioritizes Hydration
Hydration is a big part of Carmen's wellness routine. "I made it a rule that I have to drink two bottles of water before I start my day," she told The Cut. "I used to drink soda, but I don't get any caffeine any more. It's been my New Year's resolution [to drink water] for like seven years." When she started dancing and working on music, she noticed she was dehydrated. "I started drinking water and noticed a change in my body overnight. It's easier for me now to keep the weight off, whereas before, it was more of a struggle. Before I had to be perfectly healthy when I was drinking soda to lose weight. My skin is completely different because it's not as dehydrated. Water has changed my life."
She Eats Healthy Monday to Friday
Electra eats healthy, most of the time. "Some days, I eat whatever I want as long as I'm exercising enough. My biggest struggle is my cravings for sweets, but I've learned to take it easy on myself and get the cravings out of the way so I don't obsess over them," she told Women Fitness. "My ultimate goal is to eat healthy all week and have Sunday as my cheat day where I can eat as much as I want and whatever I want."
Dancing Is Her Go-To Workout
"Dancing is the best exercise for me, but if I'm not dancing I hit the gym," Carmen told Women Fitness. She added to The Cut that her background on the dancefloor has given her a great foundation for fitness. "I realized that because of my dance background, I already have discipline and I don't need to be pushed. I think I've saved a lot of money too. As a dancer, I've never put strict rules on my workout habits and sometimes I just want to go to the gym and do something light," she said.
She Listens to Her Body
Carmen intuitively listens to her body. "I listen to my body. There have been times in my life where I've pushed myself so hard to do everything, and I had to learn how to say no. It's important in dating to say no, in your daily life, and with your friends," she told The Cut.
She Hits the Gym
"I look at fitness as a way of expressing myself," Carmen told Muscle & Fitness. She detailed her workout to Women Fitness. "I usually start off with about 20 minutes of cardio, either riding the bike or walking on an incline. Then, I do a series of sit-ups to keep my core tight. Otherwise, it's all legs for me— the sled or squats mixed in with some other exercises as well. I stopped working out my arms for some time, but now I'm planning on getting back into it so I keep balance throughout my entire body," she said.
